Borgore

Hailing from Tel Aviv, Israel, and currently based in Los Angeles, Borgore, née Asaf Borger, has commanded the global dubstep and electronic music movement for the past decade via his self-produced “gorestep” sound: brash electronic rhythms, aggressive basslines, ear-worming melodies and nasty, irreverent lyrics that’ll awaken your dirtiest desires. As one of the foremost figures leading today’s worldwide electronic music generation and one of the youngest pioneers in the global dubstep scene, Borgore is a self-made, classically trained creative multi-hyphenate: world-class producer, internationally touring DJ, renowned songwriter/rapper/singer and founder/label head of his tastemaker independent imprint, Buygore Records. His expansive discography reflects his cross-genre sonic style, which encompasses everything from hip-hop and dubstep to bass music and even jazz. Collectively, Borgore today counts +181M Spotify streams, +89M SoundCloud plays and +82M YouTube views.

After years of studying at the world-renowned Thelma Yellin music academy near his native Tel Aviv and drumming for Israeli deathcore band Shabira, Borgore first broke out as a solo electronic artist via his massive Ice Cream Mixtape (2009, self-released) and the two-part Borgore Ruined Dubstep EP series (2010), the latter of which served as the inaugural release on his Buygore imprint and solidified him as an early frontrunner in the then-nascent dubstep sound. He then exploded into the mainstream with his breakout single “Decisions” (July 2012, Buygore), featuring pop starlet Miley Cyrus, which has garnered +29M streams on Spotify alone, with an additional +25M YouTube views for its messy, cake-tossing music video. He’s also collaborated with pop and hip-hop giants like G-Eazy on “Forbes” (+43M/Spotify, +26M/SoundCloud, +2M/YouTube); Juicy J on “Magic Trick” (+13M/Spotify, 3.5M/YouTube); Waka Flocka Flame on “Wild Out” (+21M/Spotify, +3M/YouTube); and Diplo.

In July 2014, Borgore released his debut artist album, #NEWGOREORDER (Buygore/Dim Mak Records). The album, which features an epic intro from acclaimed actor and A Clockwork Orange star Malcolm McDowell, as well as a massive remix from EDM superstar Steve Aoki, debuted at #1 on the iTunes US Dance Charts, peaked at #3 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and landed on the Billboard 200 chart.

Flexing his kaleidoscopic sound, Borgore’s The Firest EP (October 2018, Buygore) explores the producer’s passion for hip-hop via rap-heavy, trap-leaning tracks, including the massive “MOP” (+4M/Spotify), featuring Southern rap legend Gucci Mane and THIRTY RACK, aka EDM producer Carnage. Borgore broke genre boundaries once again with his instrumental jazz EP, Adventures In Time (May 2018), which perhaps serves as the first time an EDM artist crossed into the jazz realm and sees the producer expanding his style to new heights.

In 2019, Borgore will release The Art of Gore, his new solo album and third full-length LP to date, via Buygore. Comprising a collection of brand-new and recent songs written across the past three years, The Art of Gore sees the producer/artist revisiting his dubstep roots and arena-sized anthems, while also exploring a wide range of diverse genres, from deep house and hip-hop to trap and hardstyle.

Borgore debuted the first taste of The Art of Gore this past June with lead single “Summerlake,” a speaker-knocking dance floor weapon dripping in the producer’s menace-meets-melody style. On the seductive follow-up single “911,” Borgore reunites with adult film star Abella Danger, who delivers her sultry vocals atop a sexy deep house vibe, a bass-laden melody and hard-hitting dubstep drops. The track’s official music video, which stars Danger and fellow porn actress Gina Valentina, officially premiered on Pornhub, the world’s leading free porn site, in July. Elsewhere, The Art of Gore also includes standout tracks: “Forever in My Debt,” featuring Estonian “rap sensation” (The Guardian) and conceptual artist Tommy Cash; “Tetris,” a kinky, sexually provocative bass track; and the hip-hop-leaning trap cut “Petty.”

Outside of his own original music, Borgore is ushering in the next wave of electronic up-and-comers as the founder and head curator of his trendsetting Buygore imprint. Founded in 2010, Buygore is home to some of the fastest-rising newcomers dominating dance music today and serves as the incubator for the sounds of tomorrow. One of the first labels to discover and release music from current electronic heavyweights like Dotcom, Ookay and Carnage, Buygore was at the forefront of the American bass house scene when the label signed and released Jauz’s genre-defining anthem “Feel the Volume,” “one of the most recognized EDM tracks of recent years” (LA Weekly). In January 2015, Borgore and his Buygore squad released the collaborative The Buygore Album, which features the breakout track “Lindsay Lohan,” from Borgore alongside Jauz. In May 2017, Buygore launched Fresh Blood, a sublabel that discovers and develops new, unsigned artists who are pushing the boundaries of dance music.

Recognized as the Best Dubstep DJ by LA Weekly in 2018, Borgore remains one of the most in-demand performing artists in electronic music today. On the live front, he’s performed at virtually every global music festival, including high-profile sets at Coachella, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland and countless others, in addition to hosting and curating his own Buygore stage at Electric Zoo 2016. He’s also headlined multiple international solo shows and worldwide tours, including the sold-out North American Blasphemy Tour in 2017. In 2018, he held down dual DJ residencies in Las Vegas at premier venues Hakkasan Nightclub and REHAB Beach Club.

Ever the boundary-shattering artist, Borgore has evolved his bold sound and expanded his artistic scope for the past 10 years, blazing a creative lane all his own along the way. As he prepares to unleash his next bass onslaught via The Art of Gore, Borgore remains the cheeky provocateur everyone loves to hate and hates to love.
