    1). Trainwreck – Los Angeles, California (2002-2010, 2018-present)

Kyle Gass formed Trainwreck in 2002 after Tenacious D bandmate Jack Black had accumulated a busy film schedule. Gass selected JR Reed – who plays ‘Lee’ in the Tenacious D series – to become the lead singer of the new group. The duo decided to name themselves ‘Klip Calhoun’ and ‘Darryl Donald’ – and would focus on producing comedic southern rock music. After around a year of playing, the two decided that they needed a larger band. Gass contacted a friend in Ohio, who suggested friends John Konesky and John Spiker as electric guitarist and bassist respectively – with the two relocating to Los Angeles to work with Trainwreck.

The band would release ‘Trainwreck Live’ in 2004 – and would feature as the live musical guest on The Jimmy Kimmel Show and Current TV, as well as supporting Reverend Horton Heat and the Supersuckers on tour. In 2006, Trainwreck would provide songs to feature on the score of Tenacious D’s ‘Pick of Destiny’ film. The band released their first studio album in the fall of 2009, ‘The Wreckoning’ – featuring tracks such as “TV Theme” and Brodeo” – the latter having its own music video. Following a tour of the album, the band split up in late 2010. In 2018, the band would reform and announce the ‘Pacific Reunion’ tour, as well as work on a forthcoming album.
