Kim Petras (born August 27, 1992 in Cologne, Germany) is a German singer and songwriter who specializes in English-language EDM and dance-pop.

Petras has identified herself as female since toddlerhood, and she made headlines for having completed a full gender transition at the age of 16, believed to be the youngest on record at the time. In the meantime, she had already begun working as a model, including a series of national TV ads for a German hair salon chain. She graduated from uploading covers to YouTube to working with a producer on her debut single, “Fade Away,” released in 2008. Her first EP, One Piece of Tape, followed in 2011.

Petras subsequently appeared as a featured singer on two singles by German DJ Klaas in 2013 (“Flight to Paris” and “Heartbeat”), leant vocals to Danity Kane’s 2014 album DK3, released her own stand-alone single “STFU,” and co-wrote the single “That’s What’s Up” from [/rtist]Skylar Stecker’s 2015 debut LP This Is Me.

In 2017, Petras re-emerged on the BunHead label with the ’80s-infused dance-pop tune “I Don’t Want It at All.” The single “Heart to Break” followed in February 2018. From August 2017 to February 2019, Petras released a slew of 11 digital singles which would later comprise her unofficial body of work known as “ERA 1”. In October 2018, Petras released her third EP “TURN OFF THE LIGHT, VOL. 1” which was inspired by Halloween. Debut album “Clarity” was released on 28 June 2019. Nine of its 12 tracks were released prior to the album, beginning in April 2019. “Icy” was released as the lead single on the day of the album’s release. In October 2019, Petras released second album “TURN OFF THE LIGHT,” taking the place of “TURN OFF THE LIGHT, VOL. 2”, the scheduled sequel EP to Petras’ 2018 EP “,TURN OFF THE LIGHT, VOL. 1.” Like the VOL. 1 EP, it is a Halloween-themed album. In addition to all tracks from the VOL. 1 EP, the album includes nine new songs. “The Clarity Tour” is scheduled to begin on October 21, 2019 in Vancouver, Canada. It’s set to conclude on December 8, 2019 in San Diego, US. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
